William – Team Member

Hey there! My name is William and I have been with SYMT since September 2025. It has been a wonderful experience for me so far as I get to meet and interact with lots of enthusiastic young people every day. It has always been my desire to talk to young people about Jesus as much as possible and also accompany them in their faith journey. My best moments… silent prayer, reading, writing and of course, playing or watching football…

As a trainee priest for the diocese of Shrewsbury, one of my favorite Scripture texts has always been: “…for their sake I consecrate myself so that they too may be consecrated in truth.” This reminds me everyday of the mission that lies ahead. It is a deep and intimate prayer, focused on the disciples, but also focused on me. Jesus prays that I be kept true to his name. It is easy to show enthusiasm at the beginning, but the life of faith has its good times and bad. So, I always want to remind young people that hard times will come, but we must not despair, Jesus is always there for us.

JOHNSON – TEAM MEMBER

Hi, I’m Johnson Edeh! I joined the Shrewsbury Youth Mission Team in September 2025 as part of my pastoral work experience. I’m a seminarian of the Diocese of Shrewsbury, having completed my seminary training at both Dominican University and St. Mary’s College, Oscott. I hold a degree in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology, and I’m currently living in a parish as I await ordination.

Working with SYMT has been such a joy! I’ve loved being involved with young people ever since my secondary school days in Nigeria, where I was active with Young Catholic Students and other parish youth groups. It’s such a joy to continue that journey here, walking alongside young people as they grow in faith and discover God’s love for them.

Outside of ministry, I enjoy connecting with people, singing, reading, playing guitar, driving, and volleyball. My favourite scripture passage is Isaiah 61:1–3: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” This passage inspires me because it reminds me of the mission we are all called to live out: bringing hope, joy, and freedom through Christ.
